Vengo de un país muy fértil y soleado, con suelos generosos en los que abundan las frutas de todos los colores y sabores.
Una de las sensaciones más felices cuando vivía en Ecuador era la de tener frente a mí un plato repleto de fruta tan sabrosa, colorida y variada que solía „devorarla“ en pocos minutos.
Algo que me hizo falta al llegar a Suiza fue toda esa variedad de frutas que tanto bien me hacían. Cuando visitaba los mercados helvéticos encontraba unas escasas (y generalmente marchitas) frutas ecuatorianas que estaban exhibidas en la esquina „exótica“ del supermercado. Los precios elevados ponían los pelos de punta a cualquiera. Repetir a diario esos desayunos frutales a los que estaba tan acostumbrada, hubiese significado quedarme en la ruina.
"No se sabe lo que se tiene hasta que se pierde", frase que describe la nostalgia que siento al recordar esos puestos en el mercado, abarrotados de toda esa bella fruta. Ahora que estoy aquí y no allá, he aprendido a valorar este regalo de la naturaleza. Cuando me dispongo a comer un plato de fruta, hoy por hoy, su preparación va unida a un ritual que empieza por observarla, acariciarla, olerla y cortarla muy cuidadosamente.
Por tanto, algo que ha cambiado, es mi actitud. Ahora contemplo a esa fruta casi casi como si se trataría de una obra de arte. Voy descubriendo sus nuevas perspectivas, admirando su inspiradora belleza interior y saboreándola muy lentamente.
La belleza de estas frutas me ha inspirado para ilustrar postales y anillos. Innere Schönheit
Ecuador, wo ich geboren und aufgewachsen bin, ist ein sehr fruchtbares und sonniges Land. Es gibt eine ausserordentliche Auswahl an Früchten mit verschiedensten Farben und Aromen.
Besonders schöne Momente waren für mich in Ecuador, als ich eine Schale Früchte vor mir hatte. Geschmacksreiche, fruchtige, farbige Früchte die nur darauf warteten genussvoll gegessen zu werden.
Diese grosse Artenvielfalt habe ich nach meinem Umzug in die Schweiz sehr vermisst und vermisse sie noch heute. Ich liebte diese Diversität von Früchten, vor allem haben sie mir gutgetan.
Auf den Schweizer Märkten fand ich selten ecuadorianische Früchte. Meistens haben diese Früchte sehr schwach ausgesehen und sie wurden in der "exotischen" Ecke des Supermarktes platziert. Ein tägliches Frühstück mit meinen Lieblingsfrüchten lag finanziell nicht drin, da die Preise doch schon recht hoch waren.
Wir schätzen nicht, was wir haben, bis es verloren geht. Dieser Satz beschreibt die Nostalgie wie ich mich fühle wenn ich mich an die Fruchtvielfalt und Schönheit auf den ecuadorianischen Märkten erinnere.
Seit ich in der Schweiz bin, habe ich gelernt, dieses Geschenk der Natur zu schätzen. Das Zubereiten einer Obstschale ist mit einer Art Ritual verbunden. Ich beginne die Früchte zu beobachteten, sie zu streicheln, zu riechen und sehr sorgfältig zu zerkleinern.
Was sich geändert hat, ist meine Einstellung. Die Wertschätzung ist fast so, wie sie Kunstwerke wären. Ich entdecke neue Perspektiven sie zu zerschneiden, bewundere ihre innere Schönheit und geniesse den Verzehr sehr langsam.

Inner beauty
I come from a very fertile and sunny country. Its generous soil is full of diverse fruits of all colors and possible flavors.
When I lived in Ecuador one of the happiest feelings I had came out of eating a plate full of tasty, colorful, and varied fruit, which I "devoured" in very few minutes. In fact, one of the things that I missed the most when I arrived to Switzerland was the absence of all those fruits that used to make me feel so good.
When I visited the Swiss markets, I rarely found Ecuadorian fruits. Most of these fruits were scarce (and looked quite decayed) and placed in the "exotic" corner of the supermarket. Their prices were so high that gave me the willies! A daily breakfast with a portion of my favorite fruits would translate into personal bankruptcy.
"You don't know what you have until it's gone" is a phrase that describes the nostalgia I feel when I remember the diversity and beauty of the fruits, that fill the Ecuadorian markets. Since I came to Switzerland I have learned to appreciate this gift of nature. Now, preparing a bowl of fruits is within itself a personal ritual. I observe the fruits, I smell them and I cut them very carefully.
Therefore, my attitude has changed. Now I see fruit almost as a piece of art. Everytime, I discover new perspectives to cut it, to admire its inner beauty, to taste it very slowly.
